Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a General Contractor?

Paloma Construction is a company who oversees a construction project. We have a core team of 7 skilled contractors who work for Paloma Construction. If other subcontractors are needed to complete a task that our core team can not complete, we have a list of subcontractors who we will bring into the project. We manage the subcontractors at the project as well,  this way the client is only dealing with one manager on a site.

  • Who are your typical clients?

We have 3 types of clients: Investors Homeowners who are looking to sell their homes Homeowners who currently live in or just bought their homes.

  • Can you do renovations to a bathroom, if there is only one main bathroom in the home/unit and the home is occupied?

Yes! We make sure that there is a working toilet & shower at the end of each day.

  • Do you supply the materials for a renovation?

Typically, we supply materials for certain types of jobs. For example, if we are installing new drywall we would supply the drywall.  However, if we are remodeling your bathroom; you would supply the tub, vanity, sink, hardware and lights. All of the materials we supply are listed in your estimate & contract.  If we are working with a client from out-of-state, we can supply and deliver all materials to a site. These materials will be added into the billing/payments.

  • How do we pay? and When?

We have a very detailed contract that is given to a client to sign before the project starts.  This contract details out everything that we agreed to in our estimate.  For larger jobs, such as a remodel of a whole room or house, the client will find a payment schedule in their contract.  The payment schedule is either sectioned out according to the due date or events, meaning when this is complete we are then paid.  IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO READ YOUR CONTRACT.

  • What are your typical work hours?

Our team usually arrives between 9am - 10am depending on if we need to stop and pick up materials and supplies for the site.  We then make sure that we clean up the worksite and are out between 4pm - 5pm, especially if the client or tenants live onsite.

  • Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, Paloma Construction is a licensed and insured company.

  • Do you typically have to pull a permit?

For most remodels we do have to pull a permit. This could mean different things to different projects. For example, if we need our master plumber or electrician involved as a subcontractor they usually need to pull a permit. I tell homeowners that if they are having a renovation or remodel, we would rather all the permits needed are pulled during our work. Otherwise, when they go to sell their home they may have to have permits pulled then, which is always more complicated once the work has already been completed.

  • How does a client see the progress of a site if they do not live there?

We send emails. At the start of every project you receive an email from the project manager, the email contains all the information a client needs. They then receive a Google link to a folder that contains a Google sheet with their scope outline and Photos. Each week of the project Photos are taken on Fridays and update emails are sent out with what was completed, and what we will focus on the following week. The email also contains links to the new photos in Google Drive.

  • Do you work with outside designers?

Yes! We do not have a designer on our team, so it is great when a client works with their own designer and hands us plans that have been drawn up. We also have a cabinet company that we work with who can design and install premium cabinetry.  The same goes for countertops.

  • How far out are you booked for a job?

Right now depending on what a client is looking for we are booking about 2-3 months out. Our team can usually handle two large remodels with a few small jobs peppered in throughout.
